Beware, my children, of the darkening hour,
Where the world becomes dark, it darkens all flowers.
All the grass and the trees and the places you play,
Are turned into evil at the end of the day.
You don't dare to venture when when obsidian looms.
When the only light is from the far away moon.
The faraway moon... shining so bright.
Shining beams on the world, all silver and white.
If you enter the dark, it's a cul-de-sac.
You've entered the realm, there's no turning back.
So sleep in a light, stay safe in your dreams.
Keep light in your room so things are what they seem.
Lie sleep in your bed and remember your power,
To banish the bad in the darkening hour.

Author's Comments

This poem is more than what it means to me, it is about what it means to you, the reader. I am not going to pretend the poem is amazing. To be fair, it is rubbish. It is in no way my best work, and even my greatest work retreats in defeat when faced by Blake or Duffy or, even, other deviant artists, but I digress. The poem is one, huge metaphor for life, good and evil. The flowers, grass and trees are nature, and are how nature intended, like innocence is how God intended. The darkness is age, overpowering childhood (light). The darkness is the outside world. The last two lines are there to give hope to children and make them believe that the world can still be good, if you maintain your child-like qualities, just like a room is safe when filled with light. Not to be William Blake here, but if you want to read it that way. the darkness could very well be the world of experience and... what the hell am I saying??? This poem is too crap to read so deeply into!!! Do with it what you will. I shall speak of it no more.

Haha. Don't be afraid. It's a really depressing view of life, I suppose. I wrote the damn thing... and then analysed it. All the stuff in the comment I put about it was unintentional, and I only realised after I had written it what I had done. Haha.
